Tesla also says the range extender will be available in mid-2025, which is later than the original window of early 2025, Electrek reports. The estimated cost for the extender will be $16,000 and it must installed at a Tesla service center, according to the Cybertruck website.

The Cybertruck's range extender, which will essentially be an extra battery pack that'll sit inside the truck's bed and take up a third of its available space, won't be cheap. Tesla is currently advertising it on its website at a whopping $16,000, with a $2,000 down payment.

In the third quarter, Tesla sold 16,692 Cybertrucks in the U.S., giving it almost 50% market share of EV trucks. That’s despite an average transaction price north of $115,000 a truck.
