TikTok’s China-based parent company ByteDance fired an intern for allegedly sabotaging a training session about artificial intelligence. ByteDance confirmed the worker was canned in August after having “maliciously interfered” on a research project to train AI models.

ByteDance, the China-based owner of TikTok, has confirmed that it terminated an intern over the summer for "maliciously" interfering with an artificial intelligence model.

The intern allegedly implanted a virus into ByteDance’s AI training program that impacted 8,000 graphics processing units.
